You don't need to download them. If you have a slow connection stop using whatever is being used in your house such as Wii, Xbox, PS3, additional Xbox's etc.

I know in my home that if we have multiple computers and gaming systems all vying for the internet that the internet connection are slow. It also depends on your connection speed.

Try Pingtest and Speedtest and see if they help you.

Then that slow internet sound like it is a problem with either your computer or your internet connection speed.
The two links I provided will help you with the internet connection.
And cleaning up your internet browsing history, temporary internet files, cookies, saved passwords & temporary info stored by add-ons can help also.
Your O.S. is a big part of your speed too. So, try the above and see if that helps you any.

What is your Operating System? Also are you on a shared network? Or is it privately owned network?

Because a shared network you will not be able to see the different computing systems on the network vying for the internet. Also if you are using a cellular network they are not designed for massive computing, and it gets slower if you use a cellular phone as an internet connection.

The best cellular network here in the USA is only 4G which is not recommended for home based networks. They are only good for cellular smart phones.
